Dear Friends:
As the holidays approach we are encouraged by our church and faith to consider those families who may not have as much as we do. The Holy Rosary community has a couple of opportunities to reach out to the world:
• The Holy Rosary Student Council is having a can food drive. All donations go to our St. Vincent De Paul Society. This drive continues tomorrow and Monday of next week. The classroom with the greatest average of items per student will win a jeans day.
• We are also in the middle of a drive to collect items for the tornado victims of Joplin. They need following NEW items.
- Christmas Items: 3-4 foot artificial Christmas trees, Christmas ornaments (ready-made AND/OR children’s craft kits), holiday lights, garlands, tree toppers, tree skirts, Christmas Wreaths (artificial), Christmas stockings.
- Winter Apparel: winter boots/shoes, thermal underwear, winter socks, caps, scarves, earmuffs, winter PJ’s, slippers, mittens/gloves, robes, hoodies.
New and gently used blankets, afghans, and throws will also be accepted. Due to storage limitations, used items, except for blankets, afghans, and throws, will not be accepted.
BEN SWEETLAND:
We cannot hold a torch to light another's path
without brightening our own.
Our God is a good God who watches over all of us every day of our lives. Have a great week!
Mr. Ford
God thoughts:
Psalm 150:6
Let every thing that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
Thanksgiving!
Seeing that we only have two days of school next week and we won’t publish a newsletter here are some inspiring thoughts on Thanksgiving:
Ray Stannard Baker
Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year - and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God.
W. J. Cameron
It is literally true, as the thankless say, that they have nothing to be thankful for. He who sits by the fire, thankless for the fire, is just as if he had no fire. Nothing is possessed save in appreciation, of which thankfulness is the indispensable ingredient. But a thankful heart hath a continual feast.
Konrad von Gesner
Best of all is it to preserve everything in a pure, still heart, and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving, and for every breath a song.

Thank you, dear God
For all You have given me,
For all You have taken away from me,
For all You have left me.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
Psalm 100:4
Enter into God’s gates with thanksgiving, and into God’s courts with praise; be thankful unto God, and bless God’s name. For the Lord is good...
George Herbert
Thou who hast given so much to me, give me one more thing… a grateful heart!
Cicero
Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues,
but the parent of all the others.
